I LOVE black chocolate, this started at a early age with Cadburys Bourneville (not bitter enough for me now) and has progressed through the years to my current favourite Lindt 85% Cocoa. I spied at the supermarket last week Lindt 99% Cocoa - Whoa - I thought, a bar was added to the shopping trolley.
I got home, and was slightly surprised that it was very light - just 50g - I duly opened it, sniggered at the eating instructions, made a coffee, and took a square - EUCHH - not nice. I have tried another 2 squares, just to check, double EUCHH - It has no 'mouth feel' it's dry and SO bitter. I guess it'll make nice brownies??

Here's hoping 2009 is less disappointing - not just on the chocolate front....

Dark chocolate is a favourite of mine too, can you get Green and Blacks choc in Turkey that's my fave at the moment?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
we got some of that in a holiday basket with some other goodies...and i love dark chocolate...not much of a regular chocolate fan...but i too was disappointed in it :(
very strong and dry...almost like eating raw coffee grounds :)
oh well...better luck next time~
We can't get G&B chocolate here - I loved their orange peel dipped in chocolate (or was that Dutchy?) I do like the intensity of Lindt - try it out - you have to!
Eating coffee grinds - perfect description - fine coffee grinds, not nice at all. You will be pleased to know that I am continuing my research into black chocolates of the world - this is my public service contribution!
LOL!!! Dawn, I had that very same experience, also just recently... I will be using the rest of my bar for baking too, because I surely can't eat it on it's own!
