Red Pear

I was at the market today and spotted these totally red pears - they taste just like regular pears, though are slightly smaller are totally red, and the same price as green ones.

Happy 4th birthday

The birthday party went well - no dramas, 13 littles, 2 babies, 12 adults. 3 plates of sandwiches and half of one cake left. Several gifts unopened..... waiting for a rainy day.

Pink Fairy Dress

Work in progress - I had hoped to sew all the net onto a t-shirt, it was way to stretchy even with interfacing, so the net layers went onto some pale pink cotton and the t-shirt will be attached to the pinned circle...... a little more complicated than I had originally planned. It's totally girly - perfect for T1, but will she like it?

This is a section of the green I started a while back - I am still working on it, there will be 20 or so cards, some for the rainbow trade, the rest for the A2M group 48
Pink from Monica
Yellow from Barb
Blue from Beth
Purple from Wanda
Orange from Doreen, this one suffered from nasty mail machinery and has lost a couple of beads, even though it was in a cello envelope.

All AITM - Rainbow swap - just waiting on Red

Birthday Party

The twins will be 4 in a couple of weeks time and the pre-birthday negotiations have started. It's to be fancy dress - T1 wants either a pink fairy dress or pink cat costume, but can't decide which. T2 has specified a yellow monkey costume. I have tracked down a fancy dress place, everything is to order and fur which isn't such a great idea when the temperature is in the mid 30's .....So, looks like mommy made. I do have a pattern for the cat/monkey. The fairy will be a skirt attached to a strappy top - well that's the plan. I need to go seriously fabric shopping in Osmanbey. These will be Ikea cotton and stash net and shiny pink stuff. Most invites will be via email but there will be a few hand made ones - using the tip of the triangle snipped away when turning the millions of pennants for the bunting.

This is the Artsnthemail June Challenge winner, by Anette - it's luscious - really so much better in real life, the colours are subtle, I think it's on Lutradur or some synthetic fabric.

The last 'give me a hand' card for Fabricards from Cathy in Australia. She's used a thicker almost plasticised fabric for the images, it's got a lot of substance to it and almost looks plasticised. Must look into that one....

I decided to make some bunting to string accross the conservatory and the garden, I wildly miscaluclated, and need another 136 flags....... they'll look fabulous - honest.

Kathy G's first swap - this somehow reminds me of Amy Winehouse - perhaps I've got Back to Black on my mind....

Robin P

Janice H

Vickie - this mountain path is folded then topstitched (I think) it's very well done - I love the vairiagated satinstitch that makes the grasss edging, I wonder if my machine can do this?

Debbie V all from my A2M G48 group.

My quilt arrived for the the trade, from Vermont - along with some maple syrup candies and note cards, my maker was Dorothy - my little quilt is still in progress...... unfortunately the flags I decided to 'whip up' have taken on a life of their own.

Customs Control Checkpoint

Fancy this office? - the view at the bottom of the alley is yesterday's Wordless Wednesday picture, this 'Customs Control Checkpoint' looks out to the water, sandwiched between a tea house, park and mosque (next weeks WW) it has to be one of the best office locations around.

I love all the cards I get for different reasons, some are clever technically, some are great designs, others are simply cards I would never make, but can admire the skill, others are my textile language - I can honestly say I've never hated a card, but sometimes, I feel I can really learn from a card, or use an idea - this dragonfly is one of those, it's lush, so much stuff going on - including acorn fabric - but such a great idea. From Linda in WA, these are all from my A2M G48.

I got this RAK card - 'River' from Kate we speak a similar textile language - the metallic is much more subtle and shiny in real life. I read Kate's blog daily and only wish that I can gain her momentum with my work - her things seem to get finished SO quickly - OK her littles are bigger and 1 less in number...... Such a lovely card - thank-you Kate!

Wrapping paper

When you buy a gift here in Turkey, it's quite normal to have it wrapped in the shop, they don't charge for this and put the appropriate change card in - so you don't need to ask for the recipt should you need it. This is the wrapping from Pylones it's a really lovely shop with cool and functional stuff, but ohh such nice quality.... This paper caught my eye as there is the Turkish Nazar tradition and it ties in nicely with that.
